Health & Safety Hazards

Talk To Us About Our Services

There are some hazards throughout a given home that are pretty easy to spot, such as sharp edges or tripping hazards like a crumpled rug or a warped floorboard. But there are less obvious health and safety issues throughout your home that could be threatening your well being. Identifying and fixing these issues takes a keen eye, diagnostic tools, and the building science knowledge that the Healthy Home Energy & Consulting team works tirelessly to maintain and perfect.

Combustion Safety Testing

If you have ever wondered what causes carbon monoxide poisoning in a home, the most common sources are your combustion appliances. This harmful gas is undetectable by your senses and is a byproduct of a malfunctioning or incomplete combustion appliance.

After we have identified a carbon monoxide problem through a combustion safety test and conducted an indoor air quality test for your home, we can solve the issue by air sealing and ventilating the problematic area (along with the rest of your home), and remedy any combustion issues with your furnace, air conditioner, or gas stove.

Indoor Air Quality Concerns: Air Pollutants

One of the most common issues affecting the home performance, comfortability, and—most importantly—the health of homes here in Fairfield, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester counties is air leakage that allows outside contaminants to recirculate in your breathing air. These air pollutants can include:

Mold

Pet dander

Smoke

Volatile organic compounds

Outdoor allergens

Combustion by-products

…and much more. Once you know what kind of pollutants are in your air, you can begin to make your home healthier and safer. That’s why Healthy Home Energy & Consulting is here — to help you determine what to do about mold in a house, what is causing mold in your house, and the best way to keep carbon monoxide out of a house.

Why Should You Get Your Home’s Air Quality Checked?

The pollutants in your air can affect the health of you and your family, especially if you are exposed to them over an extended period of time. So, how can you test the air quality in your home and make it a healthier place to live? With an in home assessment!

Each evaluation includes an indoor air quality test, which will be combined with the rest of your evaluation results as well as an outline of how you can move forward with making your home a healthier place to live, work, and play. Common home performance upgrade recommendations include:
